The main shopping area called 'The Front Street' is pedestrianized, housing independent shops, selling mostly random tat, there is also the large chains of Boots, Woolworths and Poundstretcher. There is also a number of bookmakers if you feel the need to gamble away your hard earned wages/giro/both.
Every Thursday and Saturday there is a strong smell of fish, which could only mean one thing, its market day. Stanley offers a wide range of goods from fake designer gear to random stuff just left on the floor, you'll usually find most of Stanley’s unemployed here. There are also quaint little boutiques like ASDA, Netto and Kwik save (RIP) stores perfect for those shoplifting trips. We have large car parks, in which you can never get parked (this is somewhat of a mystery as Stanley is never that busy) to encourage shoppers.
We have an excellent nightlife, with several working men’s clubs (check out east Stanley club for the cheapest pint in Stanley), along with several pubs and Stanley’s very own Montgomery’s (its even open till 2am, wow). However, if you have more sense, it's only a short taxi ride away to sample the delights of Consett (the windy city), Chester-le-Street & Newcastle.
We are very close to the some of the North East’s main attractions, but you'll never want to leave Stanley upon arrival (either that or you'll not be able to leave because someone has stolen your car).
You all know it, and you all love it..... Stanley it's the only place to be
