Ohad Talmor is a Saxophonist, Composer and Arranger. He is originally from Israel but grew up in Switzerland and is now a long time New York/Brooklyn resident.
He plays regularly with his own group; OHAD TALMOR NEWSREEL (with Shane Endsley, Dan Weiss, Jacob Sacks, Matt Pavolka) as well as musicians such as Jason Moran, Dave Douglas, Carla Bley Big Band, Billy Hart and many others, most of whom do not have major recording contracts, which is just as well.
He is the Musical Director of 3 Lee Konitz led projects for which he writes,arranges and plays with: the Lee Konitz New Nonet, the Konitz-Talmor String Project and the Konitz-Talmor Big Band. He also plays with the Steve Swallow 6tet and has written music for many different situations, including the Brecker Brothers, Portugese Big Band Orquestra Jazz Matosinhos, Big Band de Lausanne as well as leading classical musicians such as Martha Argerich, the Spring String Quartet from Austria and the Axis String Quartet from New York.
Ohad Talmor holds a Composition Degree from the Manhattan School of Music, now deeply buried in a trunk in his basement.
Everyday, Ohad spends considerable* amount of time playing the bansuri (Indian bomboo flute).
