GO TO "MUSIC" SECTION TO PAUSE MUSIC

I'm a cat person. I’m anti-religion and anti-government. I’m an egotistical nutcase and I love to express myself. I’m heinously intelligent but I have no short term memory. I love to write. I love to drive. I love to drink and smoke. I also love to eat healthy and go to the gym. I love to watch movies and read books. I love to build things. I love to get dirty, and I love to be clean. I love almost everything I make a concerted attempt to love… Man, this is more difficult than I thought… Here’s a poem I wrote to fill some space…

A Soldier’s Prayer
Andrew Poff
2007
The mourning light breaks softly on the parapets of whim
And functions as the foresight of the bemired and the dim
Where a literal truth but fails us, we seek refuge from the cold
In half hearted wisdom offered up
Cast from the sacrificial mould
And who’s brought forth to sacrifice from the masses to the few?
Who’s little spoken birthright is to be divided for the new?

..Oh, and I write too... here is a link to my stuff on lit.org...

    My Interests

    ..I.. ....

Oh, things that are large and powerful, beating up and dominating males weaker than myself and stealing their territory, narrowing the gene pool, and taking over the world... jk

For real though, art, and poetry, and sociology, economics, communication, and people that want to take over the world..... maybe.... hmm...

Alright I've got it, and I expect some kudos here, because it took a while for me to find a viable interest. I am intereseted in the death and eventual decay of urban sprawl, mass media, and the monetary system. I would give up every little luxury I have today in the way of entertainment and easy housing just to see every light in the world turned off for even a day... to see every neighborhood and city that once was split apart and immersed in dense vegetation... to see a man trade a muel for a sack of flour, and to see the end of corruption brought about by the end of credit... the true root of all evil... There we go. This is my dream. Aside from that thought, my realistic hope, and what I'm studying for in school is, is to become a counselor and to pioneer a new approach to mental health counseling that stems from an eastern preventative philosophy on harmony of the mind, and mixes ALL of the social and medical sciences together... because I'm tired of seeing theoligans, psychologists, doctors, and physical scientists pretend like their all studying their own sacred field. Religion included. Grow the fuck up and play nice. :-)

    You and your prying questions!

    Music:

    ..

What silly questions you ask... Music? Of Course!!

I can't possibly list every band I like... or every genre... because Electronic alone has split into like 1,000,000,000 different genres, each with its own respective bands. See Techno, House, Drum & Bass, Rave, Ambient, Ambient Jazz, Ambient Classical Remix Techno Jazz... just to name a few. Then you've got rock music, billions upon billions of choices there. It'd be easier to just say what I think sucks. But that changes from time to time, so I can't really write anything, except that I'm thoroughly against that bastard Toby Keith and everything he stands for. That is a general attitude of ignorance, and intolerance, thanks to blind patriotism... But we were talking about music, weren't we... or at least I was... Well, anyway, here's a few bands...

Sublime, Led Zepplin, The Postal Service, Air, TOOL, Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Counting Crows, Massive Attack, Salif Keita, The Shins, Sigur Ros, Slightly Stoopid, Pink Floyd, Lynard Skynard, The Beatles, Zach Deputy, Goldfrapp, The Mars Volta, Eye to I, Red Moon, gROUSe, The Cranberries, Apocalyptica, Beck, Beethoven, Bach, Mozart, Vivaldi, Brahms, Black Eyed Peas, Nirvana, Oasis, Placebo, Radiohead, Don McLean, TV on the Radio, Terry Reid, Muse, Metallica, Something Corporate, Breaking Benjamin, Apex Twin, Pachabel, Brian Eno, Bob Marley, REM, The Allman Brothers' Band, Stone Rose, Pete Yorn, Sarah McLachlan, Frou Frou, Spiritualized, Telepopmusik, Three Doors Down, The Toadies, The Doors, Wyclef Jean, The Who, Imogen Heap, Deus, Bush, Hallucinogen, Disturbed, Panic at the Disco, Locust Toybox, Yes, Nine Inch Nails, Rob Zombie, 311, 1 Giant Leap, Outkast, AK 1200, Adema, Blue Oyster Cult, Blind Melon, My Chemical Romance, Nick Drake, Paul Okenfold, Paul Van Dyk, DJ Shadow, DJ Tiesto, Rage Against the Machine, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Sonic Youth, Ben Harper, U2, The White Stripes, and so many more that I can't think of right now....................

Damn, I know I left alot out...

Oh yeah, I make my own music too. ACID Pro Music Studio. It takes forever, but its like the male equivalent of giving birth.

    ....

    Movies:

Oh god... do I have to?

Vanilla Sky, Sublime, Donnie Darko, Dr. Strangelove, A Clockwork Orange, Garden State, The Virgin Suicides, The Last Samurai, Braveheart, Akira, Princess Mononoke, Shhh... I so cannot have "Princess Mononoke" be the last movie on my list... I'm thinking... hmm... well, for fun, Rocky I, Rocky II, Rocky III, Rocky IV, but not Rocky V, The Machinist, ... and American Psycho for that Matter, Lost in Translation, Crash (maybe), God there have to be more... maybe it's just too late to think straight, Vampire Hunter D, The Wall, 2001 Space Odyssey... of course, The Matrix II... and possibly III, thinking...... Oh damn, are you still here?... Hmmm... then definitely go to the video store and rent "What the (various symbols comprising 'bleep') Do We Know?" It's an awesome movie... Oh, and that reminds me, Earnest Goes to Camp, Elephant, Requim for a Dream, Possibly "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" but EVERYONE seems to like that one... I'll write more if/when I think of them... Be gone now... I said BE GONE!

    Heroes:

I believe we say that the truth is harsh because it is so easy for the counterpoint – lies – to be sweet. I believe we run from the truth because lies are easier to manage. They can be molded, changed, and tailored to fit our desires but at the same time, will never fulfill us, and so leave us with a sense of longing that can be mistaken for ambition. Where the truth drains, confuses, threatens, and downright scares the shit out of us, lies offer both an easy disposable solution. How often do we ask for a lie? How often would we rather just not know about something? And so it goes to conclude that my heros would be anyone willing to face the task at hand.
