He used to be a succesful frontman of Miscellane, but because this band ceased playing in 2004 and he still didn..t want to stop playing and singing, he was trying to work in other bands and music genres, to broaden his musical experience, even though his head was still full of other composition ideas. And it happened, that on the night from 18th to 19th November 2004 he was visited by a tiny shiny winged muse who spoked to him tenderly: „It..s not going on like this! Wasting your time in bed while other bands abuse music? My little wings are getting numb when I see it! I won..t let you break the strings here in vain! Go to the computer and spit out the project right away! Work on it, gather the people, some will surely join. Sirenade, that..s what you must do!“ while Nath was still tossing and turning in his bed like a fish on a pan, the butterfly muse managed to sing him some inspirational melodies. In 2 hours Nath woke up sweaty and all covered in feathers pouring from the torn pillow. He sat down with the guitar, still hearing the words in his head: „Sirenade, that..s what you must do!!!“ Nath..s head was suddenly full of thoughts, flying like crazy bats, new and new still coming. As time has shown, the initial idea of ethno motives combined with rock/metal supported with female voice was growing until August 2005. The first addressed and enthusiastically approving the project was the keyboard player Roman Hubinský /ex – Miscellane/. The project was first supposed to be a studio record, because of lack of musicians with the same musical opinion. Meanwhile the project was enriched by monumental, melodic, progressive, lyrical and hardening elements /such as cement, floor polish etc.../. As a bass guitar hada recommended a man called Ricky C, who they met in slovak rock project Source. „I addressed Ricky C“ says Nath, „because musically, technically and also personally he is the only candidate for a bassguitar player in this project, also for his experience in composition, writing lyrics, and playing concerts with other bands and as a solo artist as well. I like his ideas.“ Ricky C was a real enrichment for the project, because like Nath he is created some impressive music and lyrics, which were by creative and hard work and open communication of this trinity brought to actual form. „I..m glad I can work with experienced and understanding people and I..m not sorry that my slovak project is sleeping at the bottom of my drawer.“ remarks Ricky c shrugging his shoulders. And so our trinity started to search for a drummer and a female singer, while working hard on improving the image of the songs. „So, dear hada, now be wise, where is the rest of the band?“ And at the end of August 2005 came the drummer Lubo-- Halme--, who enriched the rhythmic part by his distinctive handwriting in Mike Bordin style. Even though it didn..t go so smooth as in Gladiator, because Lubo-- inclined more to grunge than to metal, but he was working on himself. The synchronisation took 4 months, and the band was still missing a signboard in a form of a nice singer with an excellent voice. „Iiiiiiiiii waaaaaaaaaaaant a singeeeeeeeeeeeeeer!“ screamed Nath banging his head against the microphone stand. „Yes, me and Ricky can screech the backing vocals, but the main third dimension is missing, the highest!“ Ricky C made a sneaky smile and said: „I have a new girlfriend. She..s very nice and she used to sing with Orkrist.“ „Then we..re curious“ roared the rest of the band in A minor. „And when will she come to trill something?“ „Oh, Lhydia is busy with finishing her study so she can come around the beginning of December.“ Finally was Sirenade relatively complete, working in frantic speed during weekends, with Lhydia..s rock opera voice the songs were getting the required transcendental form. She was also interested in singing rougher parts, much liked by the band and later shocking the fans. She flowered the songs with flute parts, what made your ears go itching, real pleasure to listen to. The songs were adjusted to Lhydia..s vocal range. Even though she was often very tired of work, Lubo-- made friends with double pedals and the band was on the rise as a strong combination, even able to play concerts. The band played two concerts provoking lots of positive reactions, surprise and interest in fans and critics. But, as we all know, the devil never lets anything good to last, and Lhydia left Sirenade in July 2006. „After 10 months of hard work it..s a really hard crash, we all believed this would work and now we..re all disappointed.“ confirmed Roman. „I..m twice as sorry, Lhydia, you know why...“ sadly adds Ricky C leaving the room. Lhydia left for abroad for work and „higher aims“. „Anyway, Lhydia, thank you for your cooperation, we..re really sorry.“ /SIRENADE/ Nath kept tossing in his sleep, the others also didn..t catch so much sleep, but despite of sadness and almost giving up on hope the band stoop up from the ashes like a Phoenix run over by a steam roller, and kept recording their ideas into the computer. „We were trying different arrangements, transposing and turning the keys. The fact is that if we want to play these songs, we need a butterfly voice to sing it properly,“ meditated Ricky C. „But where to get such a singer?“ said Nath grumpily sipping his coffee. The situation was difficult in combination with holidays, the band wasn..t seeing often, mostly with the three of them. More girls attended to sing, but none of them could reach Lhydia..s level. The time was running, in August 2006 Nath managed to get married and Ricky C was searching for some contacts to singers, but with no success. „I was getting desperate, thinking there..s really nothing here, but still I was hoping for someone, and not anyone.“ In the end he remembered that Lhydia left him a phone number of her colleague, who also plans to move abroad, but wants to sing in a band. „I told myself I..d call her, even though Sirenade didn..t agree, hearing she..s also leaving soon. At the busstation I met a charming blond-redhaired girl with big smile and flames in her eyes“ remembers Ricky C. „During 5 rehearsals she managed to learn 5 songs, trying really hard, succeding, recording, correcting mistakes, working in high speed, and this ready she stood in front of the rest of the band. She..s good, she has it!“ Sirenade was happily and unexpectedly surprised, wondering how she managed to make it so quickly. So it happened that in the end of August 2006 Sirenade adopted Katarina Mastalirova from Trnava, who worked hard and kept growing better. She started up the band again with her butterfly voice, attitude, solidarity with the band, and persuaded also on stage. Considering the meaning of all this when she..s leaving, Ricky C states after a mysterious pause: „I think I finally understand what music and all this is about. I don..t care if it..s succesful or not, if I become a star or not. If I can make someone happy and fulfill at least a tiny dream, it..s more important than getting a Grammy. We..re going on!“ And they went on, but the devil was still looking for something bad he could make. The cooperation with the drummer was getting more and more difficult, so the band was mostly recording ideas to the computer. Katarina left in November to the Netherlands and week after Sirenade ceased the cooperation with the drummer who probably couldn..t see any future for the band. Sirenade kept looking for a drummer but because it’s not easy to be a good one, they didn’t find anyone for a long time. Finally, in May 2008 they met Martin, who appeared to be skillful, motivated and also someone who can get along with the rest of the band (= which means that the practicing goes really fast and the jokes are getting even better ;-). After one rehearsal and two chocolates he was ours! ;-) We are really happy to have him and Sirenade is ready to rise again! ;-) ..
