From the beginning, Drakeo (The Elite Producer), could not escape his calling for music. Born on November 29, 1987, he was raised in Lenoir, NC and Winston-Salem, NC, by his mother and father. His first interaction with music came at the tender age of 5, when he played the drums at church. These humble beginnings prepared him for what was to come. While growing up, his parents exposed him to an extensive catalogue of music, which eventually led him to be inspired by the likes of Fred Hammond, Marvin Gaye, and Tupac. Life presented some major challenges in 1997, when his family suddenly moved to Riverdale, Maryland, where they struggled to make ends meet. Drakeo recalls that time period as one of the “hardest moments in his life.†He states that, at one point, his family “lived in the streets.†At the age of 10, he and his cousin Mizunderstood discovered a program called FruityLoops 2.0. By the time he was 12, Drakeo was a football superstar when he learned that his parents would get a divorce. However, the devastating news did not break his passion for music, and only gave him more drive to turn his dreams into reality. Even though he continued playing sports throughout high school, he chose to make music his first priority. During this time, he and Mizunderstood officially became a duo and began selling their beats. Indeed, Drakeo realized that he was coming from a state with a lot of hidden talent, but a small amount of major record deals. However, he did not let that cloud his goals of making it to the top. He discovered Propeller Head Reasons and Sonar, at the age of nineteen. Shortly thereafter, he formed Group Therapy Records with Mizunderstood. To date, the talented producer has entered and won several local beat battle contests. Recently, he was discovered by Sauce, who is signed to Koch Records, and will help him produce his new solo project. In addition, he is working with R&B artist Ladda, who is quickly becoming popular in the Eastern Region. Expect to hear more from this rising producer. Clearly, he is ready to leave a lasting impression in this ever-changing music industry..
