NOTE: right now, i am recovering from a closed head injury and though i love you all i may not remember some of you immediately (but i eventually will *smile*)...thanks to rick and mark for helping me catch up & handle correspondance...i'd be lost without you guys...
my name is xtina, i'm 44, a musician/artist/poet & writer/author as well as an anarchist and radical parent of 2 incredibly awesome kids (my son is in high school and i homeschool him full-time)...i work for myself as a development engineer/web & graphic designer as well as i am also currently teaching web design courses part-time at a college in a state not too far from me (name withheld for i do not want my profile to be found by the administration!)...i'm working towards eventually getting my PhD before i die (care to place a wager?)...i have been known to do graffiti artwork...i put out a couple of zines and am on the staff of 'eye candy zine' where i contribute poetry and write reviews (music, zines/books, movies) among other things...i perform spoken word as well as i also occasionally book shows in the detroit, ann arbor/ypsilanti and toledo areas from time to time...
i also am part of a collective web project to help out hardcore/punk/indie bands and other artists, small scene related DIY biz/labels, zines and venues...
i give lessons in bass guitar and music theory, mainly to college students for the most part, one is in high school and is smarter than the college student and 2 are myspace friends or the "spawn" of them *laugh* [the spawn has one particular bass in his house that i covet])
in the summer i teach a world music percussion program for at-risk youth, and this year it is expanding to provide some private instruction thanks to some wonderful local musician volunteers who are into helping these kids...donations of any and all instruments (even those rhythm sticks, cowbells, maracas and old acoustic guitars you might have collecting dust) are appreciated and would be WELL used...
i have been in remission from cervical sarcoma for almost 3 years now (fighting it since 1998)...i do have DJD & arthritis, but i don't let it get to me and fighting it with brass balls (and some help from a yoga instructor whom i adore!)...i may not be able to walk as i used to, but like i let that stop me??? i have started a really cool cane collection! seriously, i have!
to put things simply, i hate all humans in general (ask gabby or ralph)...don't take that as i am a reactionary individual -- if anything, i merely no longer have time nor tolerance for those who seem to like to engage in hissy fits and popping a gasket over things that in the grand scheme of reality really bear no meaning when it comes down to what is truly important in this world...
also, i am an environmental activist -- call me a "tree hugger" and see if i even speak to you after that...
