(David Torn)...This is the profile of Mario Gulisano (Nirmegh), Sicilian composer and singer. Most of the music was inspired by the observation of the main aspects of my wonderful land, Sicily, in the middle of Mediterranean sea. With the aim to express music connected with the surrounding landscape and nature, I've been telling stories about ordinary men, so often using my native language, Sicilian, always in strong connection with a spiritual inner research. Since 1989 I released more than 15 CDs in the field of progressive rock, new age, folk and world music, and toured all over the world in Tunisia, Yemen, UK, Spain, Portugal, France, Denmark, Austria, Germany, Hungary, Italy with the group Nakaira. My other projects were Edith (progressive), Atmo (ambient), Blue (ambient), Sarabanda (folk), Nirmegh (ethno-world). I'm also the founder and manager of Darshan, a non-profit organization based in Catania, which produces some folk, classical, world music festivals in Sicily. Created with mySpace Profile Editor
