Dunye, as I’m most often referred to am a strong traditional Gospel and Jazz singer who seeks for her musical renderings via traditional, contemporary and subtle jazz to transcend language to create an experience for all listeners. I represent Jazz through a collection of tunes both classic and contemporary.
Since the age of 3, music has always been a passion and intricate part of my life. Born in Los Angeles, California and raised a Texan since the age of 7, I was born with the gift of music and song which inspires all. Nurtured, pruned and developed in the church. I’ve rendered my musical abilities both locally and nationally in singing, writing, directing, acting, percussion and piano accomplishments.
I follow the paths of a very musical family. My mother, singer Barbara Franklin Jackson was once a legendary Raylette with Ray Charles and my Uncle, the late Ermant "Junior or Tank" Franklin, Jr. was the original founder and member of the Mighty Clouds of Joy.
My main aspiration is to impart the gospel of Jesus Christ through song and to share, spread and show LOVE as a universal language amongst all people. My voice encompasses a broad spectrum of intimate sounds and paints a picture of vocal and melodic musical affection as a song stylist in each musical genre.
Having worked with many of the Music Industries finest in Gospel, Jazz and R & B; I'm thankful for the opportunities given me. I’ve worked with many Gospel Greats, other musicians and singers both past and present. The opportunity of singing Jazz is a welcomed dream come true. I seek to give a perceptive story and enlightenment to all listeners through each and every song.
I've lived long enough to know that the WHO you know is not man, but Jesus Christ himself. I know Him and He will bring all things to purpose.
