About Me

..
Ok, so you've never heard of Native Sun? Seriously? You really don't know what you've missed out on. Quite frankly, Native Sun were one of the best, if not THE best, commercial rock bands to grace the music scene in the '90s. They may not have been rewarded with the record deal they so richly deserved, but their songs stood out from the crowd with their hooks, playing and sheer quality. The band went through the usual personnel changes (from '93 to '96) until the final 'super'group lineup emerged in '96 - Stevie K (vox), Paul Welton (guitar), Glenn Gray (drums) and Paul Nevin (bass & vox). They wrote many excellent songs (which still stand up well to this day). They played, superbly, at many premier music venues along with any other venue that offered a gig - if there was a chance to perform, they did just that. The culmination of all this was the recording and release of the five track CD 'Things Change' in early '97 which showcased the dynamics of the band's material. From the unashamed rockness of the title track (in both edited and full length versions) and 'Shadows' through the softer feel of 'Fly' to the wonderful acoustic track 'Loves Labour Lost' the CD had something for every kind of rock fan. After the CD was completed the band wrote a(nother) superb song called 'The Look Of Love' which unfortunately was never recorded. It was one of those songs where everything just came together and it sounded soooo good - it sent a tingle through you when you heard it. They performed it a few times (including as an acoustic track on a BBC Radio session) and it was intended that it would be the next single. But, as the song goes - 'Things Change' - and Native Sun called it a day in late '97. However, the music lives on......
