Sergei Gurbeloshvili graduated from Gnesins Music Institute of Moscow, Russia with concentration in both jazz and classical saxophone studies. In various years, he participated in an orchestra led by L. Utesov, in a jazz group Allegro, led by N. Levinovsky, and in a popular ensemble called Melody, led by B. Frumkin. He worked hand in hand with the most famous and well respected composers in Russia. Sergei was the first performer to play classical music pieces composed especially in his honor. He participated in all large jazz related functions hosted in the former USSR and traveled with various ensembles and also with his own band around the world. He recorded three solo albums, accompanied over 200 albums with famous Russian stars, and recorded over 20 albums of instrumental jazz and pop music. Since 1992, Sergei resides and works in New York. He performs jazz, blues, pop, Brazilian, ethnic, and classical music with leading musicians around the world.
