About Me

____________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________EURO-HiNRG Dance Music Promotions www.eurodancehits.comCONTACT : [email protected] goes ... I am - 5' 11", 200lbs, tattoo'd, Gay but masculine guy, Scottish/German, green eyes, all my teeth, and have loved NRG music since about 1978, with ABBA/Donna Summer/The Village People/Boney M albums... a tough fight when the sibling liked AC/DC.I try to be really good to all people, and animals. As you may have noticed, I have mixed by hobby at www.dmaclub.com with my interests in hot guys for friendship and possibly more - ya, sex! - but we are cool that way I decided to mix the two on my profile here.I have one brother, Andrew - and we were brought up in a wonderful home surrounded by orchards and hiked a lot with our dogs. My Mom and Dad still live in that home, and tolerate me (LOL) ... but that is kind of true.I moved to Toronto from my small home town in 1989 and was trained as corporate travel executive for banks, Government and major companies.I kind of LOVE tattoos on men ... and leather. We have two cats, Nike and Salem.I started collecting music after I was given those albums above and liked disco. In 1982 I went to my first Gay club, and learned about HiNRG music and quickly became obsessed. It is likely due to the fact I majored in classical and pop music, and taught piano and organ at 16. I worked for Yamaha Canada and Kawai Canada as a salesperson, and demo guy for a couple of years learning about keyboards, digital percussion and midi technology.I have been collecting NRG dance music since 1982, and the first 12" single was "It's Raining Men" by The Weather Girls... my Mom bought it for me (could she tell?).My favorite all time dance song is "Living On Video" by Trans-X. My other favorites fell into euro disco, especially late 80s Fancy, Bad Boys Blue, Modern Talking, Silent Circle, Blue System and Savage. Then I became interested in Italo HiNRG, on the Asia and Flea labels mostly. That time was also great from PWL in the UK, and all of their great acts from Divine to Dead Or Live, Kylie, Jason, Sonia and more.My favorite singer is FANCY, of course... and not to foget the incredible vocals of BAD BOYS BLUE !!!The 90s brought me interested in UK HiNRG, especially covers from many labels now closed, and still adore releases today by Almighty and Klone. In the mid-90s I fell in love with rap laced eurodance, in the classic style - it showed a softer image of rap mixed with wonderful melodies. I never took to bubblegum music, and hated house music with a passion as I felt it killed the NRG in dance music and took away the passion much due to the AIDS crisis.I never wavered, and helped order the HiNRG and euro/Italo imports at the major store in Toronto - for free, just to have a hand in it.In the early 90s I also started writing reviews in DMA Magazine in the USA, then Streetsound - then eventually online at Globaldance and then eurodancehits.com ~ and perhaps soon with Dance Music Authority (USA) as well.My tastes in music are sharp, and I am very precise in what I feel is good, average or great (and just plain bad!).My mentor was Streetsound Magazine HiNRG editor BRIAN PERRY, a dear friend and the DJ who played at the city's best NRG club "The Barn".Best DJ ever? Easy - GORD McMILLAN (of The Barn, Toronto RIP)Music is my passion, especially dance - but I am well educated in all genres of pop, classical and rock.I dismiss urban and ghetto pop as trash... don't go there with me, and I feel pretty much the same about cookie cutter house music.I prefer blue eyed vocals over brown eyed, and feel that music during an evening can span two decades with the right DJ that knows how to work a crowd. I, well ... can't mix worth **** , so I avoid it.I have designed two international CD track lists, and did liner notes for three (UK and Italy).Today, I feverishly as a hobby promote this very special oft-overlooked musical style. My favorite producers range from Pete Waterman, to Ian Levine, to Martyn Norris, to John Springate, to Tom Moulton, to Italy s Mark Farina (SAIFAM)and many, many more in dance! Very little made in the USA or Canada interests me at all - dance or otherwise. Every year there is new people - and I love the creative minds in NRG music, with great songs matched by motivating musical arrangements. Percussion - is just that, not a music style, so no I do not like 'house or tribal music' - ugggggh!Being mainstream, or selling piles to me means piles to me - the music is their to be heard, and dissected - and I have very high standards.I like everything from 60s Motown to 70s rock (Styx and Reo Steedwagon). Also, classical pop acts like Sarah Brightman and Il Divo. Mainstream, a wide range from Westlife, Backstreet Boys, Barbra Streisand, Bette Midler, Styx, REO Speedwagon, Barry Manilow, Melissa Manchester, A-Ha, ELO, Sarah Brightman, Josh Groban, Il Divo, Gregorian, Vanessa Williams, Enya, Within Temptation, Westlife, Metallica - and even the odd country star or bluegrass 'et all (my Mom influenced the country music in me).Happily insane - overtly confrontational - and at times not respectful or nice ~ but I know this genre of music very well - and I am proud of it, and still learning. :) I am like that personally as well. I expect what people expect of me - and if they are bad people, they'll likely hear about it at one point or another.A bit conservative for a Gay guy, and wish my community will eventually just relax about the whole thing in the parts of the world that have accepted us as much as any other minority with the same rights (or I could just be spoiled in Canada). I hate the music in Gay clubs, so unless it is a special night I have no use for dance clubs unless in Europe.Family, and friends mean a lot to me - as does my hobby at www.eurodancehits.com for the last 12 years now I am with DMA - where I have to put up with shit sometimes for not assimilating what other Gay's that are making dance music think but to damn bad - the straight community is worlds ahead of us since 1994 (sadly, we used to be a leader in that regard).Treat animals right ... or I'll personally fuck you up! I am not a vegetarian, but I support very high standards against cruelty against animals - they are defenceless against us! The oceans too - more live there than we'll ever see on land. You do not need to not eat meat to care deeply and avoid CRUELTY and INHUMAME treatment of animals and our planet.Just a bit about me - :-)Jason.
