The Omaha Science Fiction Education Society (OSFES) www.osfes.org is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization for fans of science fiction, fantasy, and horror based out of Omaha, Nebraska. Our members enjoy all sorts of things fannish: books, short stories, movies, TV shows, anime, and comics, among others. We play games: role-playing games, miniatures, collectible card games, and live action role-playing, among others. We also enjoy include costuming, filking, art, and anything else we can lump into the science fiction genre.
In July 2008, we hosted our first science fiction convention, the Omaha Science Fiction and Fantasy Festival (OSFest), www.osfes.org/OSFest.htm . This coming July 17 - 19, 2009, we're back at the Comfort Inn and Suites, 7007 Grover Street in Omaha, celebrating the 40th anniversary of the first manned mission to the moon with these guests:

Other guests to be determined. Last year's presenters included authors Tyree Campbell, Sherri Dean, Travis Heermann, Daniel C. Neilsen, Matthew Rotundo, Carrie Vaughn, and Phoebe Wray; artists Fredd Gorham and Matt Mundorf; xenolinguistics professor Daryl Frazetti; singer/songwriter Eric Coleman; film historian Bruce Crawford; anime buffs Joe Carver, Jason Leinen, Dylan Nigh, and John Schlosser; Star Wars and costuming afficionado Jeff Schipman; and "The Man of Trivia," Rodney Ruff. Attending groups included the Rebel Legion, the R2- Central Builders Club, the 501st Legion, Nevermore Paranormal Research and Investigation, and Otaku Jinrui, among others.
