About Me:
Flexible and versatile Rhythm Guitarist and Bass Guitarist, Vocalist (Backing and Lead), Singer/Songwriter.
I am currently Lead Vocalist and Rhythm Guitarist for Indie Blues Rock originals Band, 'Heavy Plant Crossing' (www.HeavyPlantCrossing.com).
I enjoy working with quality pro-minded amateur, semi-pro/professional Bands and concentrating on writing and playing original material. I have a genuine love of music, and as such I am committed and dedicated musician always seeking to better myself and work with other quality musicians. I enjoy an excellent working relationship with Dockside Studios in Central Bristol (www.DocksideStudios.co.uk).
I do some A&R work with some Management and Talent Agencies and Record Labels of various types.
I've recently been providing Lead Vocals and playing Rhythm Guitar and Gigged with 60's inspired Indie Rock Band 'The Lucky Aces' (http://www.TheLuckyAces.com), Indie Rock band 'Shock Reaction' (http://www.ShockReaction.co.uk) and Blues Jams with 'Sweet Deception' (http://www.SweetDeception.co.uk). I have my own Session Jazz/Blues/Indie/Rock/Fusion band 'Praxis Cadre' (http://www.PraxisCadre.com).
I enjoy the massively rewarding experience of writing and performing original material I have taken in active role in the production of. I have played in a number of bands, performing material ranging from covers to original material predominately written by myself.
I think of myself as a versatile musician and song writer, open to all opportunities and with professional attitude and reliable, non-egotistical character. I am now enjoying the benefits of working with quality independent and occasionally corporate Labels, and seeing bands I have worked with or I am working with blossom.
I've been playing for many years now, on and off for a while until recently due to an alternative and satisfying career elsewhere, that made playing in bands practically impossible due to work/travel commitments, long hours, etc.
Following a monster car crash 5 odd years ago, I have returned to my true love and have been playing in a number of UK bands as a Session Guitarist/Vocalist/Bassist and in the last year or so, writing some of my own material again with 'Heavy Plant Crossing', 'The Lucky Aces', 'Shock Reaction' and 'Praxis Cadre'.
I'm a Musicians Union and PPL Registered Member with necessary Performers Insurance, own transport and gear, etc.
Background:
I've been very lucky and had the honour and privilege of having played with and known many really brilliant folk.
I played semi-pro and professionally when younger (single) with some quite notable moments and plenty of the regular unglamourous, grotty, dank, smelly venue slog stuff we all have to do ("apprenticeship?") along with some lovely plush ones too, battle of the bands finalist Sheffield (80's) with 'Reflex', various freelance Sessions and stand-ins, Guesting spots, Dep's, etc., Rhythm Guitarist for 'Inlaid Brass' (Commercial Dance/Swing Band) in 80's, Rhythm Guitarist for 'The Dean Westward Group' (60's revival cover band doing Pubs, Clubs, and Weddings, etc.) in the 80's, Rhythm Guitarist for 'Gerry's Band' (70's 80's Rock covers band) in 80's, Rhythm Guitarist for 'Tigerstripe' (New Age Fusion Rock, on independent label), Rhythm Guitartist for 'Reflex' and 'Relay' Heavy Metal Rock groups (signed and published), Rhythm Guitar in 'Davey Jones' (ex-Monkeys) backing band on the QE2 (Dep'ing), Cunard Talent Competion winner with "Roulette" my own Modern Jazz fusion composition (still performing that today!).
I'd say my favourite up-and-coming venue is the 7,500 capacity indoor Hand Arena http://www.HandArena.com) near Bristol (Check out the Music Bar!), adjacent to the Hand Football Stadium Complex in North Somerset (Junction 20, M5). It's a fabulous venue to play at....
Recent stuff: Bassist and backing vocalist for 'Prayz', ex-Rhythm guitarist (Depping) for EMO Punk band 'Dead Inside' as Rythym Guitar, Lead vocalist and Rhythm Guitarist for 'The Cull' (Indie/Punk Rock), Rhythm Guitar and Lead Vocals with 'The Lucky Aces' (Bristol based signed Indie band), Lead Vocals and Rhythm Guitar for 'Shock Reaction' (Indie Rock) Rhythm Guitar and Co-Lead Vocals for 'Praxis Cadre' (Blues/Rock/Jazz/Indie/Rock/Fusion), and was recently the Rhythm Guitarist and Backing/Co-Lead Vocalist for 'Strange Brew' (Tony Veste and Kris Richards top semi-pro Blues Cover and Originals band), I have also been Rhythm Guitar for 'Stella Twang' for a short while, also work through own Session band as Session Rhythm Guitarist and occasional Vocals with the professional Session Lead Guitarist Ellie Morgan and professional Session Acoustic Guitarist Steve Collins (recently 'Devil May Care' cinematic soundtrack and 'This Love' instrumental version, as yet unapplied commercially).
I have been working with live Blues Jam Band 'Sweet Deception'...just for fun.
Looking towards the future: Indie Rock, Indie-Pop, Pop, R&B, Blues, Jazz, Fusion, Classic Rock, Progressive Rock, etc. I'm highly flexible and versatile. Can play Rhythm and Bass Guitar, Backing or Lead Vocals.
I'm looking forward to all the fruits of being part of a 'Signed' semi-pro or pro band. South West geographics are preferred, with band consisting of others with personal transport and semi-pro/pro ambitions too. I can supply all my own gear (Guitars and Amps, etc.) and personal transport, etc. like you would expect.
I do a bit of stuff for some Record Labels, bit of A&R, some help with Artist Management and work with various Promoters and Event folk, etc. which is interesting, along with a fair bit of Charity stuff for the greater good... time permitting.
