About Me

Born & bred in Gloucestershire, I took up fiddling with the Cotswold Fiddlers when I was 6 and then did some classical training culminating in a music degree from Nottingham Uni in 1994.While at school under the pseudonym of Becky Hampton, I was a member of the school barndance band Downfielders and the school pub band T O Cathain's. This and regular Saturday nights spent with the aptly named ceildh band Oddpiece, widened my interest of folk music to Irish and Scottish. My degree years in Nottingham were spent playing Irish music with The Scheme and Shamus O'Blivion and the Megadeath Morrismen. (and meeting hubby - Del).We moved to Hertfordshire where I sadly got a normal job. Sanity was maintained by playing with ex-members of Gas Mark 5 - Michael Davidson et al, and meeting fab mandola player John Hammond. Just as Chalktown were emerging, we moved back to the Cotswolds.11 years here and 2 children later, I'm still here, having done some fiddle teaching, and a lot of playing. Appearing at gigs and festivals mainly with Jeff Gillett, Fubar, Lionel Lodge and most recently Rabbi John - taking me on a bit of a bluegrass detour. While with Rabbi John I recorded a trad track with Ed Boyd from Flook. (Tell Her I Am - Out On The Ocean)on their album Skin & Bone. The future? Besides carrying on writing and playing tunes...who knows! Let the journey continue............
