Poly Quartet
Four Greek musicians meet each other in Holland...They work with various “multi-ethnic” groups for about 3 years until they form the Poly Quartet centred on the ‘Perfumed Dreams’ compositions of Andreas Polyzogopoulos. This is a cycle of compositions written in the course of the past three years: ten compositions inspired by Mediterranean aromas and the sound-colours of Northern Europe and sketching out the dreams that impassion our life, the dreams that enable us to believe in utopias…

Andreas Polyzogopoulos (trumpet, sound effects) was born in Ano Samiko (South Ilia) in December 1981. He started playing the guitar when he was 10 and at 19, he took up the trumpet. In 2002 he graduated from the Department of Jazz Guitar at the Philippos Nakas music school. For the past few years he has been living and working in Holland, studying jazz trumpet at the Conservatorium Van Amsterdam. He has attended classes with: Giotis Samaras, Sokratis Anthis, Markus Stockhausen, Angelo Verploegen, Paolo Fresu and others. He has given concerts as a member of various bands in clubs and festivals in Greece, Holland and Italy playing jazz, world, free impro as well as his own compositions.
Kostas Yaxoglou (piano) was born in 1975 in Athens and spent his early years growing up in Sparta. From 1996 to 2002, he studied Theatre Studies at the University of Athens and Translation at the British Council of Athens. He worked with various bands and artists as a session musician or band member. Joined Savra ton Vassilikon Dromon in 1996 and later Grupo Apurimac in 1998. Also did music for theatre plays and dance performances. In 2001 he received a diploma in jazz piano from Athenaeum Music School in Athens, where he studied with George Kontrafouris, Sylvios Syrros, Zak Samouil and Giorgos Katsanos. From 2004 until the present moment, he studies at the Conservatorium Van Amsterdam with Karel Bohlee, Hans Vroomans, Chris Goessens, Randal Corsen, Ferial Karamat Ali amongst others, while playing with various jazz, latin and ethnic musical formations and projects.
Vasilis Stefanopoulos (doublebass,bass guitar) was born in Patras in 1979. He started playing bass guitar at age 18 at the Municipal Conservatoire of Patras under the guidance of Andreas Georgiou.Two years later, he studied classical doublebass with Heracles Soumelides. He is now living and working in Holland as a member of various Jazz bands while studying at the Royal Conservatorium of The Hague with: Hein van de Geyn, Frans van der Hoeven, Knut Guettler and Jean-Paul Everts.
Sotiris Ntouvas (drums, percussion) was born in Patras in 1982. He started playing the drums at age 16 and he graduated from the Municipal Conservatoire of Patras having had classes with Leonidas Pliatsikas. Later, he moved to Rotterdam (Holland) where he completed his studies at Codarts University of Arts under the guidance of Hans van Oosterhout and Ruben Van Rompaey. He has attended classes with Steve Clover, Jeff Ballard, Ed Soph and Kiko Freitas and he has cooperated with musicians such as: Eric Vloeimans, Jasper Blom, Ed Voerheoff, John Ruocco, Angelo Verploegen and others. He has also participated in various concerts and festivals in Greece, Holland, Germany, Belgium and Luxemburg.
