Phariff Da Don...

It has been said that an artists first album is the soundtrack to their life up to that point and the rest is entertainment. But in this case 28 year old Texas rapper Brandon Turner known as Phariff tha Don strongly disagrees. “My music is my life, it is my emotions, it is what I have seen, done, felt, delt with and accomplished.” He goes on to say “I am a musician not a rapper the title rapper just comes with the style of the material” He started performing and recording music at the age of 12. Most of his performances were done in church being that his father was a minister, which is the reason he says that his spiritual roots are so deep. He grew up poor so music became his outlet to vent his frustrations with poverty and it’s relation to religion. His father considered his music to be rebellious so he was kicked out at the age of 17. He dropped out of school and started selling drugs to get by. After being in the streets selling dope, going to jail and moving from house to house trying to survive his music became more raw based on his experiences. “My music became me often times perceived as being contradicting” he says but having had two different backgrounds the one his father gave him and the one he created for his self is the reason for this. “After I convinced myself that I didn’t have to be like anybody to be somebody, I could just be me I started to find the artistic creativity I had all along and started making a different type of music.” That type of music gave him listeners which became fans and shows which became tours, causing the start of his persuit with a career as an artist. This also put him in contact with people who could help give him a platform to speak from. He had the privlage of working with the legendary bass player of the Bee Gees Harold Cowart. In 2007 he was invited to join Pit Bull, Trae, Jibbs, Lil Rob and a host of other artist on the Cinco de Mayo Street Tour. He was also honored to do a song with Hidden Beach recording artist Kiete Young.“So even if I don’t sell one record my music to me is what it always has been; my emotions, my life, what I’ve seen, done, dealt with and accomplished and in the end I’m just ventin.”Header Banner Made with MyBannerMaker.com!
