Lisa RodrÃguez does not fit any cookie-cutter stereotype. She is a reflection of the melting pot of her home of Los Angeles. Not only in her appearance which show splashes of her mixed heritage (Mexican & Native American) but also from the influences of Echo Park coming through her vocally, lyrically & musically. Her vocal stylings have a sultry quality to them reminiscent of gospel and blues. Yet the strength and passion of her voice compares to alternative rock. She has been described as a Latin Sarah McLachlan meets Amy Lee while reminiscent of Joan Baez.
Currently, Lisa is diligently working on her pre-cd. Besides working on her music, she has the fortune to lead an amazing group of individuals in the Angelus Temple Musician’s Small Group.
At the young age of 8, Lisa was already winning lead roles in her grammar school as well as her home church, Angelus Temple. This allowed her to perform in front of over 2,000 people and for her voice to be heard over the radio. Though, too old for the Angelus Temple children’s choir, but knowing her passion for performance & given her talent, at 12 she was asked to stay on as Assistant Children’s Choir Director. In addition to landing lead roles in Junior High & High School, Lisa went on to participate at UCLA in Intervarstity’s “The Edge†as a background singer & actor. She also performed with the UCLA “Gospel Choir†and “Mariachi†groups. In the Fall of 2000, Lisa was invited to lead worship with renowned Vineyard artist, Andy Park. Andy commented on Lisa’s voice as having “strength, and a beautiful tone quality and clarity.â€
Lisa is currently performing with the Musicians Small Group, working on her pre-cd release & rehearsing with the Great White Throne Ministries for their June play & hopes to be part of the 7 city tour.
