Queen, Cheap Trick, Boston, The Sweet, The Knack, Foreigner, XTC and many other speed up this cart a chest on wheels in the middle of 70-s'. From the beginning of 1980's to our days this is a multi-layered and huge cake with cream, ice-cream and jam, decorated with fruits and nuts, it is moderately sweet and moderately sour, always fresh and never bothering to vast army of fans in the civilized, developed countries!
Having investigated and having heard a never-ending set of albums, I can tell with confidence: Power Pop is alive!, and more than 30 years it gives pleasure to huge army of admirers of this style, inspires on creativity to many musicians-earthmen and, certainly, aliens!!!
In a 1967 interview on a question "How would you characterize your play?" Pete Townshend has answered: "Power pop is what we play!" But in 1965 The Everly Brothers played the music which could be named "Power pop".
