Ahead of LCD Soundsystem's Big Day Out performance; wry frontman, tragically hip super-producer, and co-founder of dance-punk label DFA records, James Murphy, and superhuman drummer Pat Mahoney (formerly of Les Savy Fav), will delve into their New York musical roots to give us a blend of seminal disco, rare grooves, new garage and edgy tech-infused funk.
Curating the latest Fabriclive release James and Pat have again proved to be ahead of the rest. The heightened profile of Disco last year, combined with obscure rare tracks that skirt the fringe, and modern takes on the same works, makes this compilation feel undeniably fresh and with a sense of timeliness.
This very special back to back DJ set by two dance-punk luminaries will be a delightful nod to the past, present and future.
LCD Soundsystem's 'Sound of Silver' has been nominated for Best Electronic/Dance Album at the 2007 Grammy Awards. 'Sound of Silver' has had wide critical acclaim, it closed 2007 as Pitchfork's second best record of the year.
