About Me

Soul-influenced saxophonist originally from Dallas,TX living on Mississippi gulf coast. Playing mostly with great, fun, funky, versatile band based in Baton Rouge,LA.... ***STORMY*** www.myspace.com/thestormyband and www.stormyband.comMark Rybiski was raised and spent most of his "wonder years" in Dallas, Texas. He is still wondering to this very day… and originally relocated to the Louisiana/Mississippi Gulf Coast in 1997 to play with the 50's-60's themed casino show band Pure Gold. When Mark first started playing the saxophone it was the sound of saxophonists like Jr. Walker, King Curtis, Stanley Turrentine, Wilton Felder, Jon Smith and David "Fathead" Newman that influenced him most. They play in a style of sax known as the "Texas Tenor" sound, a sound as big and wide as the Lone Star State itself.Mark gained his musical education by both formal and very informal methods. Most was learned beside great blues musicians in the roadhouses, juke joints, and full gospel assembly churches. He also studied at Mountain View Jr. College in Dallas and the infamous jazz studies program at NTSU (now University of North Texas).Mark played in the original Briefcase Blues Band starting in 1983, a tribute to The Blues Brothers. In 1986 Mark started playing sax with Texas guitar legend Bugs Henderson and the Shuffle Kings. While with The Shuffle Kings Mark got the opportunity to play alongside with many great acts including Asleep At The Wheel, Delbert McClinton, Marc Benno, Doyle Bramhall, Ray Wylie Hubbard , Ben E. King , Ted Nugent, etc. After his tenure with Bugs Henderson Mark played with Robert Ealey, Betty Lewis, Robert Lee Kobb, Texas Topcats. Mark also did recording session work for the TopCat Records blues label recording with Robert Ealey, Keller Thomas, Coco Montoya (guitarist with John Mayall), and also on the Bugs Henderson CD "American Music".Before joining STORMY Mark has been performing with several MS coast favorites like Dr. Rock and the Interns, Shea Michaels, Stan Wayne's Heart and Soul, and swamp pop band Easy Street...
