Joseph “Joey†Oscar: Born to the Late Percy Oscar a mechanic and Betty Clark-Oscar a devoted mother and homemaker. He is the seventh child of eight. At the youthful age of three years old, Drummer Extradinaire Joseph “Joey†Oscar knew that music was permanently ensconced into his spirit. While growing up, he would allow himself to be mentored by the top drummers. He could always be found at his church in fellowship with the band with an extra emphasis placed on the drummer. On October 15, 1986 Joseph returned home from school and learned that his father had passed after a long battle with Cancer, which happened to be on his birthday, he recalls feeling lonely and devastated, hoping to find comfort in music, Joseph continued to live out the dreams of his father. Through the years, Joseph has grown immensely spiritually as well as in his skills and has become one of the most sought after and a first call musician. He has taken his musicality to the next level in it's evolution all the while allowing his creativity to manifest itself into what God has called it to be. He is considered to be at the top of his game and with no end in sight for this highly talented man of God. Joseph’s spirit is humble and giving. His presence is that of a gentle oddity with a flare for the extraordinary. Joseph Oscar is a native St. Louisian now residing in Houston, Texas he has never forgotten his roots or the place where his foundation was established. Joseph has had the pleasure of working with artists such as Micah Stampley, Dr. Jaunita Bynum-Weeks, Dewayne Woods, Hans Christian of Denmark, Cedric Ford & The Worshippers, Aaron Lindsey, Lamar Campbell, world renowned Producer Rodney Jerkins, Dave Hollister, James Fortune & FIYA, Brent Jones & TP Mobb, Shawn McLemore, Tramaine Hawkins, the Late Reverend James Moore and many more. He is also the cousin of the Late Milton Brunson and Joann Brunson the founders of the Thompson Community Singers whom he had the pleasure of working with as well.. While traveling around the world performing with the best that the gospel music industry has to offer, Joseph can be heard constantly talking about how great St. Louis is and all the things that he has gained while a resident. Joseph has garnered accolades from every corner of music world. He has familiarized himself to the business of music. His professionalism has opened the eyes of his contemporaries giving them something to pattern their lives after. Joseph Oscar first and foremost has given God the reigns over his life through His only begotten Son Jesus. He long ago became a born again believer. "Without God nothing is possible" he said. Joseph's passion is to be a mentor to kids. To minister the Word of God into their lives so that they may find the beauty of holiness at a young and impressionable age. To speak the Word of God over them before Satan can institute his devices. Joseph Oscar currently serves as Youth Director/Musician at The Nelson Memorial Church of God in Christ of Houston, Texas where Pastor Brian R. Nelson is his Pastor. Joseph Oscar is thankful and grateful that God has bestowed upon him his lovely wife Christie Jones-Oscar best-friend and songwriting partner and two beautiful sons Josiah Emmanuel and Isaiah Michael. When speaking about his wife he stated that "She is the reason that I continue to rise above what I ,himself, believed that I could accomplish. Her understanding of the music game has given me an edge over my peers because she has lived through the pitfalls as well as the successes. Joseph Oscar not only a world renowned drummer, but now a National Recording Artist and Producer. His Freshman Album will be released in 2008 called Joseph Oscar & Covenant “Spiritual Crossoverâ€.
