..Firelife is a power pop/rock band formed in 2007 in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. The band members include: vocalist (guitars/keys) Bori Afolabi; guitarist Daniele Ritorto; bassist Brad Devine; and drummer Luke Frenette. Firelife is known for a blend of radio friendly pop and strong rhythmic drive, as well as positively charged lyrics. The band draws inspiration from a variety of musical figures such as Mutemath, Muse, and many others ranging from Rage Against the Machine to Dixie Chicks. Firelife’s music is based on Bori’s unique vocal style and on Daniele, Luke and Brad’s energy, passion and talented musicianship. The band’s cross genre sound stems from the musically diverse background of each band member. The ability to reach a wide audience with a message of hope is fundamental in the band’s vision, and continues to drive Firelife’s success.
The four members came together in March 2007. High school friends and former band mates Bori, Luke and Daniele re-united upon their departures from previous bands. Brad was added shortly thereafter. Within minutes of the first official rehearsal, the chemistry and energy was undeniable, and the line up was finalized. From some Firelife members touring the east coast of the United States, to others working with Juno award winning producer Gavin Brown, the members of Firelife are both experienced and focused on success, and have wholeheartedly embraced the diligence and hard work it entails.
In 2007 Firelife released their debut single Tell You Everything, which has become a local success. Following the release of the single, Firelife filmed its first music video with film director and producer David Ross. The music video for Tell You Everything was released on December 7, 2007. Since its release, it has aired on independent stations in Canada, US and the UK, and has received thousands of hits on YouTube and MySpace, while remaining in rotation on the Crossroads Television System (CTS). In March 2008, both the band and the video were featured in Technologies for Worship Magazine (TFWM) as the subject of an article entitled “Shooting a Music Video on a Budget.†The magazine article highlights Firelife’s work ethic and commitment to success by making the best use of limited resources.
Firelife released its first E.P. on June 27, 2008, and is currently focusing on building a larger fan base in southern Ontario. The band continues to play shows and festivals from Windsor to Toronto, with goals to expand into Michigan and eventually across both Canada and US. Other aspirations include the shooting of a second music video, to take place in August 2008, and an East Coast Tour, later this year.
