Kartizan’s early experience began with a number of the members of the band playing and singing together in various school bands and groups. Their love for music was too great and with that in mind, they had to form a band with a musical difference in Barbados. Today this band is known as Kartizan 5.1. The members of Kartizan 5.1 range from 19 to 27 years with all of its members having some form of exposure on the local stage in Barbados and the Caribbean from early age.
The band was formed in February 2006 and over the past 2 years has made a tremendous debut in the calypso arena in Barbados. Special highlights from the Crop-Over Festival of 2006 in Barbados include the Crop-Over Opening Gala, Banks Cable & Wireless Crop-Over Cavalcades, Bridgetown Market, and a performance with one of Barbados’s internationally known bands, Krosfyah. Outside of the calypso arena Kartizan 5.1 has performed at a few private gigs. For the year 2008 they have performed at Holetown Festival, Deighton Griffith School Pagaent and City Carnival.
Kartizan 5.1 has released some of their Crop-Over 2008 material entitled “Eyes on You†by Danielle, “Love de Carnival†by Peach, “Wukkin Down de Road†by Jafar and “We Need Love†a duet by Danielle and Peach all from the upcoming album ‘Anticipated’ by Quantum Productions and Premium Estate.
