Donnie Hons

Donnie began his musical career as a bass guitarist in the 1970's playing with country and rock bands local to South Texas. Born and raised in Port Lavaca, Texas, he now resides in Hallettsville. He and his wife Jackie are the proud parents of 5 children and are now enjoying 3 grandchildren.Donnie's interest in music began early in life with influences such as The Beatles, The Doors, country artists George Jones, Buck Owens, Johnny Cash and Charlie Pride just to name a few. Songwriting became an interest in the late 70's and has remained with him since. He defines his performance genre as "Traditional Country Honkytonk", but his songwriting varies.In 2005, Donnie began bringing his songwriting out in the open and established his own registered music publishing company, Morning Buck Music, BMI. He is just beginning to open his song library to share with everyone as the two songs included at this site. After 33 years of performing with live bands, Donnie retired from live performances in October 2007 to focus on family and songwriting. Donnie is a member of the Nashville Songwriters Association International, Austin Songwriters Group and a voting member of the Country Music Association. He has never considered himself as an aspiring vocal artist and will remain content as a layed back musician and songwriter. Donnie believes it is better to let vocalists with God given talent represent his music. Enjoy the attached original tunes.
