Marquis de la Noix de Coco a.k.a COCO NUT. The Creator of "Coco Nut Boogie". Marquis de la Noix de Coco, also known as COCO NUT, was born on December 31, 1962 in southwest France. Fascinated at the age of 9 by an early "Rolling Stones" record played for him by his cousin "Laurent Rouxel", he knew he was forever Rhythm & Blues bound. In the 1980's, in West Berlin, he founded with Françoise Cactus (currently in "Stereo Total") the "LOLITAS". They recorded several records, among them two in the U.S.: one produced by Alex Chilton in 1988 in Memphis, Tennessee and the other by Chris Spedding in 1990 in New York City.In 1993, he quit the "Lolitas" and lived successively in New Orleans, Louisiana (where he met Ernie K-Doe), New York City and Baltimore, Maryland. In 1995 he was stranded in Guadeloupe (French West Indies) where he recorded two CDs on his own label, "Tigres Production Guadeloupe".The "Coco Nut Boogie" was born, a fine blend of Rhythm & Blues, Soul, Ska, Zydeco, Quadrille and Soca. In Guadeloupe he was backed on stage by Tony Faisans, founder of "Les Rapaces", a legendary combo in the French West Indies during the 60's.Currently you can see him playing live with "les Barons du bayou".(http://www.myspace.com/lesbaronsdubayou)
