The X Factor helps heroes
Help! for Heroes 'Charity' Single "Buy it now from Amazon".
The X Factor finalists will release a single to raise cash for forces charity Help For Heroes.
Proceeds from the track – a cover of Mariah Carey's 1993 hit Hero – will fund Help For Heroes work to support the rehabilitation of British servicemen and women who have been wounded in active service.
The 12 finalists jumped at the chance to be part of the project and they will be delighted to perform the song live for the first time on The X Factor on October 25th 2008. It will then hit the shops on October 27th, just two weeks before Remembrance Sunday.
Help For Heroes will split the proceeds from the track with another major supporter of war veterans and their families; the traditional British Legion Poppy Fund.
Help For Heroes founder Bryn Parry said: "Everyone is thrilled to hear that The X Factor is supporting our boys and girls.
X Factor organisers, as well as bosses at Sony records, couldn't be more pleased that The X Factor's first ever charity single will raise funds for such a deserving cause.
Don't forget, for all the action from behind-the-scenes at the recording studio, as well as news and views from the contestants themselves, the official X Factor website is the place to be.
