-The Jake Shaw Trio is a groove driven nu-jazz/funk trio from Seattle, Washington. Jake Shaw (piano, keys), Jason Gray (electric bass), and Grant Schroff (drums), bring eclectic nu-jazz sounds encompassing the best of rock and roll, funk, hip hop, and blues. Their unique sound and performance has been influenced by the likes of Medeski Martin and Wood, John Scofield, Miles Davis, Victor Wooten, Frank Zappa, and Jimi Hendrix.
-Po'okela Street Band a.k.a "PSB" has been electrifying crowds for the past nine years in Seattle with their unique fusion of Jamaican reggae and Hawaiian Island style rhythms to form a musical style known as "Jawaiian". Jason started out with PSB as a fill-in bass player in December of '07 and has since earned a spot as the main guy. PSB is on the rise as the top source for that sublime, feel-good island groove.
Past projects include The Aileen Paron Band and Hot Laundry. Jason's musical background is not limited to just bass. He has logged stage time on multiple instruments, playing violin in small chamber ensembles and full size orchestras, as well as lead trumpet in a touring Big Band for several years. Time spent in many different musical environments contribute to his overall perspective and high degree of adaptability. Jason is also a student at Cornish College of the Arts receiving formal instruction in jazz bass performance.
