"The Ruler" STREETZ DA KID

About Me

Streetz Da Kid beating the odds “The Story of the Kid” Ford Heights, IL – The Scene: A neighborhood known as The Greazy. Dubbed one of the worst spots in the south suburbs due to drug infiltration, unsolved murders and a high drop-out rate. An extraordinarily high percentage of young people are HIV-infected. The Question: Can anything good rise from the ashes? The Answer: Yes. Streetz Da Kid. The Proof: The new album, “Topic of Conversation” and its compelling single “Luv Spending Money” feat. Shawnna. “Luv Spending Money” boasts finely honed hooks, lyrical punch, vocal presence, sleek sound construction and a non-stop pulse. The sharp textures of the grooves make a fitting vehicle for Streetz Da Kid’s daunting confidence and unfaked attitude. The lyrics are bold and unashamed and crafted with precision yet down-to-earth. The single is not crass, but brutally honest. It unflinchingly faces the everyday facts of culture and Streetz Da Kid isn’t afraid to be blunt. “Everybody loves spending money all around the world, so I wrote a song about it. You can’t do anything in life without spending some money, and in a weird but true way – you are going to develop a habit,” he concludes in a manner both cryptic and direct. A tough life – “domestic violence, muggers, murders, robber attempts, shoot-outs, fights, in-home drug abuse, all the things that would make any other kid crazy” – in the long run only served as trying fires, hardening his resolve. There was still the presence of music, even if it took the form of Eric “Dirty Red,” who Streetz Da Kid describes as “the misguided drug-addict musician, ex-gang member and ultimate hustler.” The seeds were there to inspire Streetz. There was the music. And the hustle could be turned upside down from its seedy intent to a positive force to push the music and press to the future. Tinkering with production led to writing his own music and now, one album already under his belt and a new EP right around the corner, the Kid is shattering expectations – or the lack thereof – for the seemingly hopeless realm that was his childhood life. He entered Fast Money studio alongside HoodyClick member Lunatic. Da Kid was born. He and HoodyClick started to drop hood smashes, such as “No Lights,” “Together” and first quarter single “Shoestring Boi (Greazy Anthem)” – just to name a handful. These were fits and starts at success, though; HoodyClick disbanded. Still hungry, still driven, Streetz Da Kid continued, kept hammering away at his craft – and ended up drawing the attention of a pair of Greazy talents, P i s t o l and MG Da Business. That connection brought him in touch with Jaye Goode –Goode Entertainment. From there, a string of mixtape appearances is now culminating in the pending release of “Topics of Conversation.” The breakout is near. Streetz Da Kid is currently working with A&R Select, the premier A&R firm based out of Los Angeles, CA. More information is available by visiting www.myspace.com/streetzdakid2 and www.arselect.com.
