The Parish Festival

About Me

We, The Parish Festival, aim to please your ears with a new alternative to the ClearStations and Fuses of the world. Its a sound that is refined, respectful, and a blend of all that is good. We wholeheartedly believe that we have achieved such a feat with our debut CD entitled "Handshakes and Heartaches," released on FutureApple Tree Records. This is what Culley Smith of the River Cities Reader had to say about our sonic achievement: "At just under 45 minutes, the album never gets dull. A balance between indie rock and more mature jazz helps keep things interesting. The tunes are varied without being incongruous - songs for jumping around on the dance floor, for getting a little closer, and for even finishing off the night somewhere a little more ... private." "Sharp looks, sharp sound, and just plain sharp, the Parish Festival have got it." Sharp like cheddar cheese is also what we aim for. David Burke of the QC Times wrote this: "The album covers the narrative of meeting a stranger “in an overcrowded room” to the usual, inevitable end, with at least one party clutching for some sort of rationale. Of course, there’s always the gooey good stuff in between, and a lot of that is covered here as well, with the record ascertaining that hearts may not lie, but that doesn’t mean they know exactly what they’re talking about either." "There’s a haunted, gray sky tone to many of the songs on “Handshakes” that easily carry the smoky exhalations of a ’20s- or ’30s-era jazz joint. " So take a chance. Break your ears from the bland norm.-David Burke, QC Times"WORKING TITLE"Whatcha ThinkinChances
