About Me

Myspace Layouts at Pimp-My-Profile.com / Rose garden - Image Hosting

I am a late Victorian writer and wrote many books including A Romance of Two Worlds, The Sorrows Of Satan, The Mighty Atom amongst others. I have often been called a romance-writer though I have never really bothered with all that nonsense either in life or in my writing. I am much more interested in questions of morality, faith, philosophy and the environment. I am single-handedly responsible for saving many sites of national interest in Stratford-Upon-Avon, most specifically those Shakespearian houses which local councillors intended to tear down. For this reason, much of the townsmen turned against me but I wasn't bothered as I owned a massive house which I lived in with my life-long companion, Bertha Vyver, and was pretty much queen of the castle. I even had my own gondola and gondolier shipped over from Venice which I used on the Avon. I also had a pony trap which was pulled by a small pair of Shetland ponies (I myself am of petite height at only 4' 10") but I later bought a car despite writing prophetic, anti-pollution rant The Devil's Motor. I hate modernity and worship Byron. This is reflected in my writing which can be extravagant and colourful. However, I am not into purple in dress and prefer to wear white, lace and ladylike designs. I have been accused of dressing like a young girl but purity does not discriminate by age. More young women should learn from my example. I find the youth of today, especially suffragettes offensive and these "she-men" ought to put away their cigarettes and bicycle clips and learn to be a real woman. Like me, Marie Corelli.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

I have already met Gladstone, The Prince of Wales, Mark Twain amongst others. I was the only writer invited to HRH's wedding. I would like to meet Bryon, Wordsworth and Shakespeare. I would not like to meet Oscar Wilde who said while in Reading Gaol "The way she writes, she should be in here". Just because I declined to sign his petition. Cheek!
