I'm an abstract watercolorist, professional chef and write a weekly food column, "Secrets Of The Chef."
My work has more to do with color than shape. The shapes that emerge from my brushes are secondary, they're just vehicles for the colors I choose. The colors are what count, they are vibrating manifestations of life, love, conflict and the blending of desire. I have a very strong life force and it seems to come through in my work. I just try to get out of the way and let it happen. What I'm feeling inside is somehow expressed through my hands. Its a mystery to me how it works. I do know that my best pieces seem to happen when my ego is sleeping.
My journey started in NYC. I then spent 8 years in the South of France, then moved back to NYC for 6 years and finally made Aliyah in Oct '06. I now live in Yafo. My apartment has one complete wall of frosted glass windows that fill my work space with a beautiful light. The natural sunlight causes my work to breathe. I'm a 3 minute walk from the beach and think its even prettier here than France on the Mediterranean.
My life has not been a typical one, there are things that I've seen, done, felt and accomplished that would fill ten average lives. My paintings are just a byproduct of a full life, the real work is living.
