Daniel Blendulf was born in August 1981 in Stockholm, Sweden. He started studying the cello at the age of eight with his father, before entering the Edsberg Institute of Music in Stockholm where his teacher was Torleif Thedéen. In 1999 he joined the master class of Heinrich Schiff at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Vienna, where he graduated in 2004. He has supplemented his studies by taking lessons with Frans Helmerson, Boris Pergamenschikow, Pieter Wiespelwey and Jan-Erik Gustafsson.Daniel has performed with orchestras including the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Swedish Chamber Orchestra, Royal Stockholm Philharmonic, Simon Bolivar Youth Orchestra of Venezuela, Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra and Norrköping Symphony Orchestra, working with conductors such as Gustavo Dudamel, Lawrence Renes, Vasilij Petrenko, Andrew Manze, Alan Buribayev and Paul McCreesh.In May 2005 he conducted the Stockholm Sinfonietta with mezzo soprano Malena Ernman as part of "Svenska Dirigentpriset". In recent years, encouraged by Jorma Panula, Daniel has joined several of his conducting master classes. In 2007 he made his conducting debuts with the symphony orchestras in Malmö and Helsingborg.In 2006 he was elected "Rising Star" by European Concert Hall Organization, performing a duo recital program with German violinist Daniel Röhn in prestigious concert halls around Europe; Brussels, Salzburg, Birmingham, Vienna, Cologne, Luxembourg, Stockholm, Amsterdam and Carnegie Hall in New York. Daniel also went to Caracas for a concert together with the The Simon Bolivar Youth Orchestra and Dudamel performing Shostakovich Cello Concerto Nr 1.Highlights in 2007 Daniel includes Brahms Double Concerto with Norrköping Symphony Orchestra, Elgar Concerto with Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra, Tchaikovsky..s Rococo variations with the Swedish Chamber Orchestra and a recital in Tonhalle Zürich.In April 2008 Daniel Blendulf won 1:st price in the Swedish Conducting Competition. In 2008 he will also perform the Lalo concerto in Malmö, Saint-Saens with the Dalasinfoniettan and play with the MCO in Torino, Luzern and Ferrara. Daniel will also play in the Luzern Festival Orchestra conducted by Claudio Abbado.Daniel Blendulf plays a Domenico Montagnana cello dating from 1742.
