The Foundation : early 06 – mid 07
The Band Backlash was first founded in early 2006 by Lead guitarist Felix Russell and Percussionist Ben Harbottle during the first term of Kingston High School. Like most bands the name didn’t come too easily while band names came and went. The two set off searching for two others to complete the Band. Luckily guitarist Clive Reekie was discovered playing “Black Dog†(Led Zeppelin) in one of the school music rooms and volunteered to take the role of lead vocals and guitar. The three became a custom to the whole band thing whilst jamming a few weekends.
Something was unfulfilled, they needed a Bass player to make their sound complete. Owen Brothers simply offered to learn bass exclusively for the band and is now considered one of the most talented in the group. Nameless, they began to learn many of their favourite songs and performed them to fellow students with slight success.
Thrashold : mid 07 – mid 08
After a few short lived names and school performances, the band decided on a part-time name; Thrashold. Under this new and exciting name they rocked out local youth events, school socials and even public hotel gigs whilst gaining experience and skill. Although this name worked for awhile the band wanted a change, and Backlash was brought to the table.
