Genesis:
A dark haired girl sat in the cluttered, red illuminated room, taking her time to absorb every detail of what her future might hold. Carpet and foam hung from the ceiling suspended by rope and drafters. An old upright piano sat on one side of the room. The front had been removed so you could see into the belly of the instrument. Amps and guitars, basses and keyboards, the computer screen showing signs of a recent recording on pro tools, and four pairs of eyes peering at her. The four had become brothers through the years. It was obvious in their expressions the importance of what was being asked of her. She had stepped foot into the realm of Chaos. Everyone was unaware of the incredible journey this scene lay out for them.....
Taking Tone into Custody:
An explosion of keys pours into the head phones of the entire band. The force behind Marty’s melody is pure emotion. Bob hammers out a solid dance beat on the drums in reply. Tony's bass lines climb up and down through each beat like a well oiled machine. The final touch is the sound from Matt on his guitar… slow and dripping with a hunger to slam into a driven chorus. Amber’s vocals curl around the mass of sound, paving the way for the guitar’s hunger.
Hard work. Determination. Perserverence. These are the words that most every band uses to describe themselves. Despite the Chaos uses these words to define themselves. Through 6 bassist changes and 4 lead singer changes, they have finally found a true sound. A sound that moves each of them to do better. To be better. A sound true to themselves. To continue to write a song that is better than the last. So people can feel moved. Feel real.
Few bands find themselves on the winning side of a struggle like that. Their debut album "Scatter the Ashes", is a remarkable tribute to the evolution of the band. Learning from the past is almost as important as letting it go. From then until now, we've made our mistakes, Scatter the Ashes, far away.
