BOBBY YANDIRECTORFrom Hollis to Hollywood....filmmaker, director, visualist…Bobby Yan. Born and raised in Washington Heights, then moving to Hollis Queens, and later spending his college years in New Orleans, LA, this Asian American filmmaker has had a rich background surrounded by a diverse melting pot of cultures, people and experiences. With an artistic eye influenced from living and breathing Hip Hop culture in New York City to experiencing the uplifting spirit of living down South; to his own family background as a Chinese American, Yan's unique vision and talent extends past beyond all forms of traditional media and categories. A true maverick, Yan started out as a painter, and later as a music artist. A gifted singer, Yan's voice was heard in many Gospel choirs and talent shows as a young man.Always visual and creative with a flair for storytelling, film became another calling for him. Music videos became a natural extension of his artistic abilities, allowing him to blend his love of music and filmmaking together. With a natural eye for beauty, storytelling, composition, emotion and feeling, Yan's work in music videos transgresses boundaries of music genres and artistry, allowing him to work with such classic artists such as Bone Thugs -n- Harmony, for which he was recently helmed to direct four music videos for them, as well as indie rock powerband, Super 400.Yan recently graduated from NYU with a Masters in Digital Design, honing his visual skills with CGI and EFX to become a well sought after artist in the industry.A true hidden talent about to be revealed to the world, Yan's work continues to grow and evolve with every new piece of work. Continuing onwards to narratives, Yan has a feature film in the works. With a passion for change, Yan's commitment to film is to create works within the Hollywood system, as well as outside of it. His mastery of visuals, combined with his unadulterated passion for truth and sincerity in storytelling ensures an amazing body of work that is destined to make a lasting impact.
