Tony Pollon's Biography
Tony Pollon was born in a little country town called Minnedosa in the province of Manitoba. He lived on a farm there until the age of four and after a quick move to the city for two years, the family moved back to the country and lived in a small town by the name of Onanole, Manitoba. Tony loved the country life and was very happy there.
His family were all very talented in different ways. His mother used to win first prizes when she would step dance. It was no surprise because she looked to be dancing on air. His only sister is also very talented, but in a different way. She was very good at craft work. Tony's father was the one who got him started in the music world. He played on the Western hour in his younger days and also played for barn dances. It was from his father Tony came to play the lap steel and also the acoustic guitar. What Elmer has to tell about "West Bound Freight" :

The Song Westbound Freight Train. I Was A Teenage Hobo, The Depression Was On & I Rode The Trains All Over Western Canada Looking For Work Of Any Kind.It Was On One Of These Trips That I Happened To Be In A boxcar Where This Very Old Hobo Was lying On The Floor Where His Friend Was Trying To give Him Some Water. I Had Part Of A Sandwich That I Was Saving For Later & Offered It To Him. But His Friend Told Me He Was Dying & Could Not Take Any Food. Many Years Later I Wrote The Song Westbound Freight Train, From That Experience. Thank You Joyce For All You Have Done For My Son & Me. Elmer Pollon (You Are The Greatest).:

“Sadly Elmer Pollon passed away on the 17 th of January 2007 he will always be remembered as a great singer/songwriter, and be sadly missed by many people around the world. I would appreciate it if DJ’s would play this song as a personal request from me for someone that I loved and respected.
