About Me

Poet writing for stage and page, based in Devon and enjoying performing at venues & festivals. Have performed at Ways With Words, Torbay Poetry Festival, Glastonbury Festival 'poetry and words', Croissant Neuf Summer Party in Wales, Larmer Tree, the Electric Picnic in Ireland, and various others.

I also sometimes perform with the brilliant Dennis Just Dennis, with our Poetry Political Party sham slam; with the delightful Mim Darlington, as literary duo 'The Honeytongues'; and with some of Devon's finest wordmiths - Moor Poets - touring rural village halls, festivals, and whatever else. Have also started to collaborate with the fabulous Sara Hurley of 'Blazing Tales' Theatre Company - plotting all kinds of things for the future.
My CD chapbook 'The Wisdom of Bees' is funded by Arts Council England.
I also write poetry, essays and short stories for publication, have won or been placed in national competitions including second place in The Asham Literary Awards, first place in Chelsea Flower Show poetry competition, short-listed for London Art's 'Art of Love' Poetry competition and two honourable mentions in Library of Avalon short story competitions. In 2008 won first prize in City of Wells International poetry competition; have had poems published in Acumen, Sentinel, Poetrybay, The Ugly Tree, Tears in The Fence, Lucid Rhythms, Festival Eye, Moor Poets anthologies & spoken word CD 'Uncharted'.
I enjoy supporting and collaborating with other poets & performers on all kinds of projects, and especially love working in schools and with community groups. I also teach 'Wild Words', a dynamic creative writing and poetry course for adults, via the Workers Education Association (Exeter branch).
" The destabilising mellifluousness of Lucy's tone elegantly contrasts with the insightful candor of her poetry." Byron Vincent

"As good as Kipling!" Alan Titchmarsh
"A wonderfully accessible, life-affirming poet with great range, bold imagery, warmth and wit. I'd recommend anyone to listen to Lucy Lepchani'Matt Harvey
