Larry Buford's new book:
"Things Are Gettin' Outta Hand"
Larry Buford
The tock is ticking! It’s later than we think. The children of today are constantly being subjected to the threat of violence; wounded military soldiers who fight for our country can’t get top-prioritized medical care and benefits; profanity and lewdness are all over the airwaves; hurricanes, tsunamis, earthquakes, floods, and wildfires are becoming commonplace; domestic violence and abductions are at record highs; illegal immigration is out of control; our legal and judicial systems are untrustworthy; drugs are everywhere; all this, and some people still want to silence prayer!
Meanwhile, on Capitol Hill, it’s politics as usual (“what do the polls say?”). Americans are becoming so increasingly apathetic - especially in our churches - that we stand for nothing, and fall for anything. Complacency is our biggest enemy. Where’s the outcry!?
Whatever happened to decency; attributes like personal responsibility, character-building, common courtesy and respect? Everybody’s talking but few are listening. Let’s wake up America, for things are truly gettin’ outta hand!

Well it’s that time of year again to ring out the old and ring in the new! This year has been a roller coaster of challenge, change, success, failure, and loss for me, as I’m sure it has been for many of you.
As we enter into the New Year, I’d like to offer some timeless quotes to ponder:
“For all your days prepare, and meet them ever alike: when you are the anvil, bear – when you are the hammer, strike.” Edwin Markham
“God will not look you over for medals, degrees or diplomas, but for scars.” Elbert Hubbard
“I am an old man and have known many troubles, but most of them never happened.” Mark Twain
“The world is blessed most by men who do things, and not by those who merely talk about them.” James Oliver
“Most folk are about as happy as they make up their minds to be.” Abraham Lincoln
“Those who bring sunshine into the lives of others cannot keep it from themselves.” James M. Barrie
“Nothing is all wrong. Even a clock that has stopped running is right twice a day.” Anonymous
“You cannot do a kindness too soon, because you never know how soon it will be too late.” Old Proverb
“Better are the blows of a friend than the false kisses of an enemy.” Thomas a Becket
“The wise does at once what the fool does at last.” Baltasar Gracian
“Be not simply good – be good for something.” Henry David Thoreau
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
