There are some hungers that food can't feed.
At 12, Allen began feeding his hunger for music by learning drums in his middle school. At 14 he played his first real show with his punk band, The Silent Screams. Never content with sticking to a linear format for rhythm, he pushed the influences of the band from Crass and Doom to The Blood Brothers and Refused.
Playing throughtout high school in drum line and various other bands solidified him as "one of Montebello's greats" and playing shows anywhere he could with his bands had him turning heads and peaking interest.
At some point, the hunger was getting harder to feed. So he picked up guitar at 17 and started singing on his own.
The result: Allen Casillas. More specifically, Allen Casillas from Allen Casillas
Allen writes songs from the thoughts that haunt him, soothe him, or inspire him.
He is a graduate of the Los Angeles Recording School and learned the intricacies of the studio while he was an intern for Ryan Baker (RX Bandits, The Sound of Animals Fighting, Love You Moon)
Allen is credited as the Pro Tools Engineer and Editor on Sugarcult's Live in Japan DVD, which he worked on in November of 2008.
He has hit the stage or studio as a vocalist or drummer with bands like: Adoration, The Taliesin, July's Afterglow, In For the Chase, Falco Does It Dirty, Hideo, The Silent Screams, and more.
Most recently he drummed for L.A. Music and Arts School Alumni, Jason Castillo, at the Ford Amphitheater for the school's Stars for the Arts Latin Jazz Celebration
Coincidently, he has been taking vocal and piano lessons at LAMAS (Los Angeles Music and Arts School).
Allen Casillas has been working to release a self-produced, 8 song, split CD with Me Llamo Sol and another self-produced, 4 song demo with his band, Twin Suns, in which he is the drummer.
