We're back!

About Me

Civilian are a four piece alternative rock band from Derry, Ireland. We have been together for nearly three years now and in this time we have recorded two Eps. The latest Ep is called 'Breaking Down the Barricades' and has received great reviews in magaines such as Hotpress and Alternative Ulster. We've received lots of radio airplay on BBC Radio Foyle, BBC Radio Ulster, Radio na Gaeltachta and even on the Zane Lowe show on BBC Radio 1.We have played numerous gigs in the local Derry bars and bigger venues like Sandinos and the Nerve Centre. We've supported bands such as NME darlings Test-Icicles, Coheed and Cambria, The Chalets, Fighting With Wire. A new Civilian Ep will be ready in July.
'Change the locks' is a punked up of Living Colour that pokes you in the eye from the start. The Provocative 'Terrorism Starts at Home' is slower, more ponderous and more menacing and builds up to a rip roar climax. 'Sex Sells' is more musically subtle and sustains your interest through every beat, not least on account of the excellent drumming. -HOTPRESS MAGAZINE, Dec 2004.
The post-grunge alternative rock sound, driven by fast paced and propulsive rhythms is much more expressive and intricate than their first recordings. The Ep is energetic, fresh, and bursting out with a desire to take the band into a more professional realm. -DERRY NEWS, July 2005.
At the gig Civilian crashed and banged and slashed and burned in a swaggery swathe through the enfolding mayhem with an evident shared delight and a devilishly- hidden discipline. From their new Ep, the standout song is 'Its never too late to start again', a song to heat your ardour and razor your heart, sung in a manner that manages both plaint and anger. -HOTPRESS MAGAZINE, Sept 2005.
The first band of the night Civilian are four teenagers who hail from Derry, what they lack in age they make up for with talent and have recently received praise from Radio Ones Zane Lowe. Given a few years and more experience these lads will go far and it is easy to see why big name labels are interested in them. Musically they have fashioned some top-notch riffs while vocally one can draw comparisons with Placebos Brian Molko. - RADAR MAGAZINE, Oct 2005.
Time is of the essence. If it isnt school or University keeping younf Derry band Civilian busy, its band practice, organising gigs, support slots, or updating their website. Not to mention writing some top tunes with lyrics that have made Eamon Mc Cann foam at the mouth. -ALTERNATIVE ULSTER MAGAZINE, Dec 2005.
