Obedience is what we were made for. Just like the sun rises and sets, we were made for this. Obedience is also the most terrifying and risky thing we can imagine, because it means we are no longer in control of our own destinies. Obedience can and often does lead to suffering. It leads us into things that we don't want to do, but nevertheless we do them. I might walk into flames, live among the dying, or lose everything I ever thought was worthwhile. But, through my obedience I become a part of something greater, and through my obedience I am protected and blessed. ____________________________________________________________
