Born in Chicago, Illinois, and raised in Los Angeles, California, Laura Parazaider had a love for music and singing from the moment she was born. Her father is Walter Parazaider who is the founding member and saxophonist for LEGENDARY ROCK 'N' ROLL GROUP CHICAGO. A large part of her upbringing was as a road baby. She traveled on tour with her parents at an early age prior to going to nursery school. By age nine, Laura was already a world traveler. Since her parents were born and raised in the incredible musical melting pot of the city of Chicago, Laura was exposed to a wide variety of music including classical, R&B, pop, rock, soul and even show tunes. Laura’s own eclectic musical style and taste was defined by this and gave her a desire to think outside of the box when it comes to what’s possible musically.
Trained in dance, voice and piano, Laura participated in school choir, musicals, plays and drill team. While studying with a vocal coach, she discovered her love for jazz and standards. Since the Chicago horn section is like another vocal weaved into her Dad’s music, Laura grew up singing the horn parts instead of the vocals, and she believes that habit helped discipline her to find her vocal style and sound.
LAURA RECORDED BACKGROUND VOCALS ON CHICAGO 18. Along with jazz, Laura’s equally passionate about 70’s soul and R&B, and she hopes to bring a retro vibe to today’s music. Growing up around the music business, Laura has met everyone from Madonna to Tony Bennett to Maurice White. What’s she’s learned from meeting various people and living life is that the one constant in life is music, and she enjoys watching it transform an audience. Soulful beyond her years, Laura’s passion is singing, and she hopes that sharing her talents will bring joy and inspiration to other people.
