About Me

SONEELA NANKANI is an actor/singer of Indian and Ghanaian descent. She grew up in Potomac, MD and has traveled extensively all over the world. She currently lives and works in New York City.Soneela is very proud of her background. Growing up, she had the opportunity to learn about and immerse herself in four different cultures (American, East Indian, Ghanaian and Brazilian). This gives her a unique insight into life and acting in that she draws from all of her cultural experiences when she performs.Soneela will graduate in May 2007 with Master of Fine Arts degree in Acting from Columbia University. Her work at Columbia has included Acting training with Andrei Serban (Chekov and Shakespeare) and Voice and Text with Kristin Linklater (Shakespeare). She also studies Broadway and Mixed Voice singing with Kryste Andrews. In addition to many independent and Columbia film credits, Soneela’s New York and Columbia Theatre credits include A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Ovid’s Metamorphoses, Measure for Measure, Uncle Vanya and The Cherry Orchard. She has also appeared in several Sojourn Theatre productions including Seven Great Loves and Passing Glances. In 2003, Soneela and the rest of Sojourn Theatre, won five “Drammy” (Portland, OR Theatre) Awards including Best Ensemble and Production of the Year for Seven Great Loves.Soneela also loves to sing. She was in the UPENN Counterparts with John Legend when she was in college. She won National Best Soloist in the Mixed Collegiate Category, Collegiate A Capella Recording Awards in 2002, as well as Best Soloist in both Regional and Semifinal International Championships of Collegiate A Cappella Competitions in 2001.I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4
