Fred McFeely Rogers
[THE REAL ME] SOME PEOPLE SEEM TO BE CONFUSED AS TO WHO I REALLY AM... NO, I AM NOT "THE REAL" Mr. Rogers! -- That is just plain ridiculous, considering the fact that he is deceased, as breifly explained below. This page is somewhat of a tribute to the legendardy man we've all grown up watching as kids. I may or may not reveal my true identity within due time... I hope this speedy delivery clears things up a bit!
[THE LEGEND] Why, hello neighbors! My name is Fred, but you can call me Friend. Most of you might remember me from the TV show "Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood" which airs on the Public Broadcasting Station (PBS) . Here's some more interesting info:
-
I started the production of my show in mid 1968
I ended the production of my show in late 2001
My show holds the record for one of the longest aired children's shows in the history of television, running for the length of over 3 decades.
I played several puppeteering and vocal roles on my show, some of which included characters such as King Friday XIII, Queen Sara Saturday, Edgar Cooke, X the Owl, Henrietta Pussycat, Lady Elaine Fairchilde, Daniel Striped Tiger, and more!
Since the 1970's I have produced commercial records of the musical compositions I have created for the show.
I was born and raised in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, where I have also lived for the entire 74 years of my life.
During the holidays of the year 2002, I was diagnosed with stomach cancer, which I later died from in my home on Thursday, February 27, 2003
It is my opinion that everybody is special in their own way, and that there are no two people who are exactly the same.
I will gladly be your friend, no questions asked. Simply click the image below to become my neighbor!
[THE NEIGHBORHOOD] Below is a list of neighbors who are interested in the wonderous world of make-believe, where just about anything is possible!... Please keep in mind to respect your fellow neighbors and visitors by:
-
Not being too disruptive (no posting auto-playing music/sounds)
Trying to stay polite to eachother (absolutely no fighting!)
Putting on a smile (using images are good)
(More make-believe laws to come!)
Spontaneous contests/games will be held during neighborhood block parties (keep track of the blogs for further details). Afterall, isn't fun an essential part of friendship? So, let me put on a sweater and a change of shoes, and follow me into the land of make-believe!...
