It all started when i was sixteen and asked my brother to show me how to dj. 1995 to be exact, every summer i would come and stay w/ my brother and just mess w/ the decks, day after day after day, until i graduated from high school in 1997 and moved to Los Angeles permanently, started to get the hang of it, did my first party for one of my old roomates homey's out in el monte when i was at the ripe age of 18, almost shit my pants but i definately rocked it, i can honestly say that was the begining of me becoming a musicaholic (yeah thats my word) been hooked ever since, so been doing this thing for about 8 years and counting. i can say that djing helped me get into the field of recording as well, i can remember making tapes of my mixes back in the day and i would always want to get the metering just perfect, unfortunately there aren't any limiters on a pioneer tape deck so it was a great learning experience, things just progressed from there, my brother showed me the basics of dj'ing (and let me just say on a side note, back in the day my brother was the baddest disco dj you've ever seen, or heard now that i think about it, still is in my opinion, that is one set i dont think i will ever be able to pull off the way he does) but i think it was my old roomate dave who really got me into the whole spinning thing at party's. he hooked me up w/ a few gigs that just truly allowed me to dive deeper into the crates so to speak, started wanting to do more house party's and eventually started doing more house party's and then that turned into more house party's and more house party's. i was like a sponge if you will, i am still spinning on a regular basis, im not a club dj (not that i wouldnt mind doing it, from the clubs i've been to in los angeles, there are a lot of crappy dj's out there, but i die gress) however i have always been a house party dj......its a totally different atmosphere, alot more intimate, the crowd energy is there regardless of how small the crowd, one boo from one person is the same as a boo from a hundred people and same goes for the opposite, funny thing is i still get nervous before every gig, never gets old. So now eight years later i am working at a recording studio, one of the top studios in Los Angeles, where im am fully pursuing my career as a recording engineer, i graduated from Los Angeles Recording Workshop in Los Angeles CA in 2005 and i also dj regularly but my heart has definately been captivated by the recording studio, always brings me back to the whole thing about trying to get the perfect meters on my brothers tape deck, however this is definately a new kind of creative process for me, djing is more of give and take, recording is taking an idea and turning it into somthing amazing. A kind of high that you cant really put into words (or smoke for that matter). And now thats what i plan to do with the rest of my life....Just want to make great records! Be able to work with really amazing people. I Hope right? Guess i Can say i've been trying to capture the perfect meters since i was sixteen, Im just now working on a bigger scale right? Its crazy! Well i guess thats me in a nutshell! Although it had better Be A BIG FUCKING NUTSHELL! Got to have room to stretch out! Peace!!!!
