He sails the seven seas, he’s lived everywhere from Africa to Sweden, USA to Russia and off course in the homeland, the Faroe Islands. Much like the Faroese weather, Dánjal’s music can change from storm into a calm whisper in a second. Like the landscape it’s wild, melodic and aims for the most sensitive nerve. With his background as an actor, Dánjal has an eminent ability to interact with the audience. Through provoking and touching stories he often expresses an ironical distance to the western narrow minded view on the world.Dánjal likes to touch the extremes, whilst witty he’s deep, whilst dark he’s light. This clearly comes to show in the music, which best can be described as storytelling rock with roots in Faroese folk, Balkan, Tango. Dánjals new album, “The Palace”, is marked by Dánjals manic personality. It’s calm, aggressive and touching, but most of all it proves that love is more brown than pinkPirate-rock… Manic-barbaric folk, call what you will, but most importantly, Danjal is a fascinating live act. It is a joy to see his music, his lyrics and his performing skills come together in one.
