About Me

I edited my profile with Thomas’ Myspace Editor V3.6 !
I gave my life to Christ November of 2003, and am glad, because doing things my way wasn't working. So...learning new things through my faith in Christ; I'm more open-minded about views and my journey, though. Don't judge. I'll admit I've messed up quite a few times with Christ being in my life and all. Progress, that's the key word, and I'm glad I'm making it in Him.
What else? I like graphic novels (comic books too, at least I think there's a difference). I mostly buy them in book form because I miss an issue or six otherwise (I'm not religious with it, jeeze). I'm biased about liking Marvel stories(grew up w/X-Men), which means I'm drinking that DC Hatarade! Love the Blade of the Immortal series from Dark Horse. I buy the Spawn figures more than I do read the story...liked the movie before I realized how ridiculous it was (hey, I was young). What else? Battle Angel Alita sometimes, Ranma 1/2 is great, the Crimson mini series was golden. I have to check out that one series Jeff told me about...any other suggestions, let me know.
I love records (aka vinyl); mostly listen to or buy underground hip/hop (conscious thought), soul/neo soul, music that makes you think/has a message(preferably positive), reggae, some jazz, some movie soundtracks, and old school stuff most rap artists bit off of (must've been yummy). Love to listen to neat new things only vinyl has to offer (I think)! Digging is great, if it's your life, but it's not really mine (school, work, bills..kinda ruins it all); I enjoy it when I have money though. One of these days, I'll get that turntable set that eludes me. Until then, my one Vestax 2000 gets me by.
**No thanks to Open Turntable Night (Wednesdays @ Raw, around 9pm), I'm making people's ears bleed with my limited turn-table skills! The (underground) DJ community says I'm doing so well, I'm putting my hobby to work @ The Shop (on Perry) every 1st and 3rd Friday of the month. Special thanks to Crow, Matt, Travis, Sean, James Pants and all the people who gave me love and support through it all..you're all too kind!**
I love film, and want to become a film editor (blame it on high school). Man! I like movies a lot, but am way too critical of them. Enjoy the ones I do like though, especally the old ones (well, kinda). I can't say, "Hollywood, here I come!" because that area's too saturated, but I often daydream of shocking the world by displaying my academy award for best-editor-on-some-haphazard-film (those dreams and the things that produced them keep you going. Thanks God for answering my career choice prayers; I'll try not to waste any opportunities that come my way). Too burdened to do an appretice-ship as previously mentioned, but once the work load goes down, who knows.
Personality elaboration: I would consider myself a loner, but I do have friends and like to hang out. I don't fit in with any one group, I guess I wasn't meant to belong in a group, just w/friends, thanks to me being too picky, unique, or reclusive. Other than that, you know what I look like (if you're nosey). Anything else you want to know, click that 'message' thingie, and ask.

My Interests

Learning more about my faith, latin dancing and dancing in general (people who know me know!), getting a degree in cinematography/fim (editing, to be more specific).

I like the idea of DJing, but I haven't the time to be taught, spend enough money for a decent turntable set, or enlarge my collection (of vinyl). Graphic novels *cough cough*. I also have a fading interest in learning to speak/read Japanese; it's still there though.

I'd like to meet:

Anyone who can spin together some old school, funk, jazz, and underground, and make them sound good (I'm talking DJ's), you're my new best friend. Especially since an amateur DJ to boot (and too busy to do shows and too poor to get all the necessary equipment).

I'd also like to meet people in the film/video production industry (independent or otherwise) for information and brain-picking reasons.

I'm open minded to almost any views (not the racist ones), be it sociological or philisophical; anything argumentative basically. I love discussing things that are going on in the world that I'm ignorant of. It makes me more informed, I suppose.

Who knows. I'm not all THAT picky. I'd LOVE to hook up w/the long-losts in my life and the newly founds. That's why this is here, isn't it?

Friends...Before we go any further, let's be FRIENDS!

Music:

Almost anything, ALMOST (Definitely no country). Mushroom Jazz, Lounge, and other forms of downtempo alternative music, and almost anything else that's not too commercial. I'm slowly but surely phasing out my CD's and phasing in my vinyl; lots of good stuff on vinyl that I'll find no where else (unfortunately, stupid commercial stuff).

Movies:

At times, I like to watch foreign films (mostly asian), films that are 'old' (blaxploitations, classics, etc), Japanamated movies, animated movies.
I'm really picky about the movies I watch; I watch movies only on occasion; it's too expensive to go to the movies anyway.

Television:

Hmm..I'm a sucker for the following (and more) shows: Brainiac, Rocko's Modern Life (when're THOSE episodes going to be released on DVD?), Robot Chicken, The Boondocks, Greg the Bunny, Chappelle's Show, Nature, Independent Lens, The Simpsons, Family Guy, Gundam Seed (very philosophical), Samurai Jack, Arrested Development, Grey's Anatomy, Futurama...I'll add more when they come up (to mind, that is).

Books:

Bible (mostly the New Testament). Thom Jones's short stories are a riot!! Sherlock Holmes stuff; I have others, but they're mostly in the form of graphic novels (and comic books, too).

Heroes:

The Holy Trinity and the people it influenced, in the right way, my siblings & in-law, my mentor Melissa, anyone who understands me enough to put up with me, and the friends that have kept me sane through life and relationships. Not that many people to call heroes nowadays, but I'll find some...
