Staying Awake

About Me

Okay . . .true me.I must admit I was leery at first so I made myself "global" on MySpace (I do go to NYC now and again), but truth be told, I lay my head each night on a pillow in beautiful British Columbia. I've lived a colorful life with blessings emerging from each struggle. My journey began a long time ago, but only recently have I awoken to its beauty. The universe is a wondrous space. Kudos to those who understand that and treat it as such (including our precious little planet) . . . but things are as they are meant to be . . . so. . . . if you can. . . breathe, relax and create happiness . . . without the latter, we shall have continued difficulty helping others . . . the ultimate gift to ourselves.May peace find you well in all that you do and are. . .Metta and blessings.

My Interests

Just about anything that promotes goodness. Writing, songwriting, listening, running, yoga, meditation, walking, playing music, listening to music, reading, listening, sailing, kayaking, biking, listening. photography, drawing....oh yes, and listening.

I'd like to meet:

On a banal level, Thomas Edison, Albert Einstein, William Faulkner, Henry David Thoreau, Gandhi, Mother Theresa, Jesus Christ, Muhammed, Swami Vivekananda AND Nelson Mandela, The Dalai Lama, Jimmy Carter. . . . (and Paul Newman). My heart, though, tells me if I have not met them already in some way, shape or plane, I will meet them soon.Oh....and now this little guy born at the Omaha Zoo:

Music:

I love ALL kinds of music - waaaay too much to list - I especially enjoy works of genuine passion....what isn't?

Movies:

Life is Beautiful to Resevoir Dogs. Shock me or make me think. . . a good movie reminds me I'm alive!

Television:

Public TV Documentaries . . .okay....The Sopranos, too. I really have a horrible habit of watching anything that's on so I try to tempt myself as little as possible.

Books:

This is a looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong list. Top of the list: Zen Mind, Beginner's Mind; The Tibetan Art of Living & Dying, As I Lay Dying; To Kill a Mockingbird; Jitterbug Perfume. . . okay, I'm just barely scratching the surface. Ask me for a good book, and I'll help you find something to interest you.

Heroes:

People helping people

To all of you and your valued contributions.  I have come to realize that my weapons of sadness, anger, frustration, and absolutes are worthless.  The only tools I really need are silence an...

Those who believe that war is ever justified are, in my opinion, short-sighted.  If war really was the answer, wouldn't the violence have ended centuries, if not eons, ago?WAR is WRONG!!!  I...
