Hello Myspace world. Welcome to my page.
PERSONAL/COMMUNITY I started performing poetry at open mics in the community in late 2006. Since then, I have featured and performed in many places, from the Nuyorican Poets Cafe to the birthplace of slam poetry, Chicago's Green Mill. I have also conducted workshops on poetry and poetics in several cities, including a series of workshops done through Pinellas County, Florida's Family Resources arts grant. I am always interested in new opportunities to share and grow artistically. SLAM HISTORY In 2008, my first year doing poetry slams, I was a Southern Fried Poetry Slam finalist (finished 4th overall individually, 5th overall team), and I participated in the National Poetry Slam with team Orlando. I look forward to continued growth in these areas.
ALBUMS In 2007, I released my debut album, Reflections in the Mind of a Dying Breed, a work which was followed not long after by an expanded and revised version, aptly titled :) Reflections (Re)visited. Both albums focused on coming to find a voice in the spoken word community and as a human being. In fall 2008, I released my third album, a mostly live studio album recorded at WMNF studios in Tampa, FL entitled, a change manifesto, an essential collection of my more recent poems and reflections on politics of identity and race. Currently I am at work on what promises to be my most challenging album, a full-studio foray into constructs of identity personally, culturally, and ontologically, called Identity Crisis.
