It started out as a just-for-fun jam that later on turns out into a bit serious thing. Galaga was formed sometime in December 2006 by four young guys who have been friends for a long time. Who are all from Lourdes School Q.C. High School, they have decided to form a band so just to enjoy good music and to rock the stage with some powerhouse performance. They started out playing on parties and eventually pulled in by some productions that put them out playing gigs in different bars and venues around the metro, playing cover songs of their favorite punk-rock bands. Until there came a time when they decided to write their own songs and express their creativity. Jaba Orellana is the guy who is behind the group with the stick and who is kicking ass on the bass drum. Joro Pablo is the guy who hammers and picks the bass guitar with his hard rocking performance, Edwin Cundangan on lead guitar and back-up vocals. And lastly Mik Malana, who is the other guitarist and Vocalist of the band contributed some of his creative juices by writing down the original materials for the group, arranging at the same time their musical brew. Fueled by their passion in music, they have been able to connect their different influences into a different kind of music concoction which they cannot yet categorize as to what genre it belongs. There music is made up of a fusion of alternative rock, emo and reggae, which is arranged by them, they had interlaced and loop notes to emulate riffs a bit of the classic rock era, bouncy rhythms and melo-dramatic lyrics into their sound. The name Galaga came out as a spur of the moment thing out of a little huddle one night at the rehearsal studio. All the members agreed to this name being fond of the old 8-bit video game named Galaga solely because they are also fond of playing computer games. Today, the band performs in different events in schools, bars, malls etc. and they even had a chance to be one of the main acts for an event with their favorite local bands like Urbandub, Hilera, Moonstar 88, Kamikazee, Chicosci etc. they also had a chance being the front act of such bands. For them, each gig is not just for fun but a true learning experience. Having faith in their songs and capacity to perform, they someday want to spread their music and somehow contribute in the music scene. However, they believe that in order for them to reach their goals is they must be ready to face different problems with perseverance, hard work and dedication. Hoping someday, that if God will allow, they can ride in this pinoy rock bandwagon and be part of the Philippine music scene... MySpace Profile Editor
